The basics
How does this actually work?

Three steps. You answer ten short questions about the person and the moment. We use that to write personalized lyrics, then produce a full-length original song with vocals, instruments, and arrangement. You get a private link, an MP3 + WAV, and a printable lyric sheet within two to three days.

Is the song really original?

Every song is written from scratch using your details — the lyrics, the melody, the arrangement. No two Tell A Tune songs share lyrics. You receive a full personal-use license to share the song with the people you choose.

How long is the song?

Three to three-and-a-half minutes — long enough to land, short enough to listen to twice.

Can I choose the genre?

Yes — at the moment we offer warm acoustic folk, indie pop ballad, pop-rock anthem, hip-hop tribute, country, R&B, and tender piano. If you want something else, write to us.

Can the song mention specific names and details?

Yes — and it should. The more specific the details you give us (pets, places, inside jokes, things they say), the more the song will feel like theirs and not anyone else's.

Trust & quality
Who actually writes the song?

We use AI tools to handle the heavy lifting of melody and production, paired with a human review of every set of lyrics and every final mix before it ships. We won't send a song we wouldn't be proud to send ourselves.

This combination is what lets us offer this at this price, in this timeline. A purely human-written song typically runs $300–$1,500 and takes weeks.

What if I don't love the first version?

One free revision is included with every order — tell us what's not landing and we'll rework it. If the second version still misses, we refund half. In four thousand songs we've rarely had to.

Do songs ever sound generic or AI-made?

The honest answer is: only when the brief is. Songs sound generic when the details are vague (“she's amazing”, “we love each other”). The five most specific details you can give us will do more for the song than any settings we offer.

Is the song safe to share with the recipient?

Yes. The listening page is private until you share the link, and we never publicly post songs. Your order details are never visible to anyone else.

Logistics
How long does it take?

Standard delivery is two to three days. Rush is twenty-four hours, with a small premium. Both come fully produced, never half-finished.

What format do I receive the song in?

You'll get a high-quality 320 kbps MP3 and a 24-bit WAV download, plus a printable lyric sheet PDF and a private listening page link.

Do you ship to other countries?

Everything is delivered digitally — there is no shipping. Available everywhere with an internet connection.

Can I order more than one song?

Of course. Multiple orders are processed in parallel, not in series — three songs takes the same time as one.

Tricky cases
Can I use it as a first dance song at a wedding?

Yes — many people do. We recommend the rush option only if the wedding is within the week; otherwise standard delivery gives you time for a revision pass.

Can you write a song for someone who has passed?

Yes. Memorial songs are some of the most meaningful work we do. The same rules apply — specific memories make the song theirs. If it helps, we have written guidance for memorial briefs; just write to us first.

Can you write in another language?

Currently we write and sing in English. Spanish is launching this summer. For other languages, write to us — we sometimes can.

Can you use the recipient's voice?

No. We don't clone or imitate specific voices, ever — even with permission. The song is performed by our trained vocalists.

Is the song mine to keep?

Yes — for personal and gift use. Listen to it, share it with the recipient, play it at the celebration, keep it forever. Commercial and broadcast uses require a separate license; reach out if that's relevant.
